1. Компенсация, регулярно выплачиваемая за использование патента, авторского права, собственности другого лица в виде определенного процента отчислений от объема доходов, объема продаж продукции, ее себестоимости, валовой прибыли или определяется в расчете на единицу продукции, получаемой в процессе этого использования.. 2. Плата за разработку природных ресурсов. В Англии Р. называется налог, уплачиваемый организациями, ведущими добычу ископаемых, поскольку все природные ресурсы там считаются собственностью Короны. В США платежи Р. не рассматриваются как налог, так как недра там находятся в частной собственности. Р. служит инструментом изъятия части ренты от использования недр. Причем поскольку отчисления взимаются на основе валовых показателей, без учета издержек, то при падении эффективности добычи (по причине исчерпания запасов и т.п.) выплаты Р. способны сделать добычу ископаемых нерентабельной. Это обстоятельство учитывается при установлении ставок Р. Предлагавшаяся сторонниками теории оптимального функционирования социалистической экономики так называемая плата за использование природных ресурсов имеет сходное содержание с Р. (в смысле 2). Освобождение от роялти (exemption from royalty) — один из методов определения стоимости нематериальных активов, когда они не передаются по лицензии или в аренду, а остаются в собственности компании (предприятия). Поскольку собственность на нематериальный актив (например, на торговое наименование) освобождает компанию от выплаты роялти, ее финансовые результаты повышаются в той мере, в какой платежи роялти отпадают. (Роялти обычно выражаются некоторым процентом налогов от прибыли до вычета налогов). МСО приравнивает торговые знаки или торговое наименование к части доходов компании, представляющей доналоговые роялти, которые пришлось бы выплачивать за использование торгового наименования.
