    Утвердительные формы Past perfect образуются с помощью вспомогательного глагола have в прошедшем времени ( had) и причастия прошедшего времени Past participle смыслового глагола (Main verbs).

    При построении общего вопроса вспомогательный глагол have в прошедшем времени ( had) ставится перед подлежащим (Subject) предложения.

    в) Отрицательные формы:
    Отрицательные предложения образуются путем прибавления к вспомогательному глаголу have в прошедшем времени ( had) отрицательной частицы not/ n't.

    I hadn't done the exercise.

    He hadn't eaten the apple.

    Past perfect употребляется для обозначения действия или события, которое завершилось до определенного момента в прошлом. Этот момент может быть выражен
    а) с помощью указания на какое-то другое, более позднее по отношению к данному действие:

    He bought a new car as he had broken his old one — Он купил новую машину, так как разбил старую.
