Защита (обычно - дистанционная), в которой на каждом конце линии установлена зона действия, превышающая длину защищаемой линии, использующая канал передачи информации для посылки сигналов в случае, когда обнаружено внешнее КЗ. Прием сигнала на противоположном конце блокирует действие на отключение местного комплекта защиты.

Note – In the USA, the term "directional comparison protection" is applied to any non-unit protection using telecommunication, with or without overreaching or underreaching distance protection.
