Tuttavia, ancient si usa in particolare in relazione all'antichità vera e propria, fino alla caduta dell'Impero Romano d'Occidente: Ancient Greek, greco antico, mentre old si riferisce ad un passato più recente: There are a lot of old churches in Bologna, a Bologna ci sono molte chiese antiche. Esiste inoltre l'aggettivo antique, usato principalmente per indicare oggetti d'antiquariato: antique mirrors, specchi d'antiquariato. -
