Эти интермедии служат для создания очаровательной и нежной атмосферы, что постепенно подводит зрителя к подлинной (по мнению режиссера) теме фильма: физическому и нравственному преображению героини (Грейс Келли), которая выходит из своего ледяного кокона, отбрасывает усвоенные правила приличия и нетерпимость, не приносившую ей ничего, кроме неудовлетворенности, и находит, наконец, путь к любви, счастью и примирению с миром. Мораль, близкая Лили, Lili или Хрустальному башмачку, The Glass Slipper, 1955, отточена Уолтерзом с тем элегантным изяществом, что стало его фирменным знаком. Это последний фильм Грейс Келли и 1-й, в котором она хотя бы немного поет. В этой картине она дает волю своей чувственности, напоминая манерой игры Грету Гарбо, хотя и с большей мягкостью и менее властной красотой. -
