abbr. FinFederal National Mortgage Association: the largest source of housing finance in the United States, the FNMA trades in mortgages guaranteed by the Federal Housing Finance Board. Created in 1938, the FNMA is a shareholder-owned private company and its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
