A bleaching process consisting of boiling the limed fabric. Also called bow-king. The cloth is run through a solution of calcium hydroxide (milk of lime) Ca (OH).; then passed into a kier. The object is to decompose the fatty, resinous, and waxy impurities in the cloth. These are not removed here, but remain attached to the fibre as soluble lime soaps and are easily removed in subsequent processes. -
