(заглавие рассказа Ю. Тынянова - 1929 г., в основе которого лежит исторический анекдот. Во времена Павла I военный писарь ошибся, неправильно разделив слова в приказе о производстве в офицерский чин, в результате чего из слов "пра́порщики ж" возник несуществующий пра́порщик Киж. Тынянов придал его имени французское звучание Киже́. Рассказ был экранизирован в 1934 г.) "Fähnrich Kishé", Titel einer Novelle von J. Tynjanow (Titel der deutschen Übersetzung "Secondeleutnant Saber"), der folgende Anekdote aus der Regierungszeit Pauls I. zugrunde liegt. In einer Order über die Beförderung zum Offizier stand geschrieben: пра́порщики ж таки́е-то в подпору́чики die und die Fähnrichs aber zum Leutnant. Der Schreiber trennte irrtümlicherweise die letzte Silbe des Wortes пра́порщики ab, verband diese mit der Partikel ж zu einem Wort und begann damit - großgeschrieben - eine neue Zeile, woraus ein imaginärer пра́порщик Киж Fähnrich Kish entstand (in J. von Guenthers Übersetzung: die Leutnants aber - Leutnant Saber). Paul I. beförderte Kish sehr bald zum Oberleutnant, dann zum Hauptmann usw. Als Kish Oberst werden sollte, bestellte ihn der Kaiser zu sich. Man war gezwungen, Paul I. zu melden, Kish sei gestorben. "Schade", sagte dieser, "er war ein braver Offizier". Tynjanow gab dem Namen des Offiziers die Form Kishé, wodurch dieser einen französischen Klang annahm. Der Ausdruck Подпору́чик [Поручик] Киже́ wird als Bezeichnung für eine fiktive, nicht existierende Person gebraucht, die man durch ein Missverständnis oder infolge eines Betrugs für einen realen Menschen hält.
