Термин, подразумевающий чувство зависти к явным либо воображаемым успехам соперника, особенно в сфере любви к объекту. Чувство ревности, как правило, сопровождается подозрениями в том, что любимый человек отдает предпочтение сопернику. Почвой для ревности, корни которой лежат в эдиповых констелляциях, являются желания индивида обладать правом на исключительные взаимоотношения с первичным объектом, который, однако, в дальнейшей жизни принадлежит другому объекту. При этом действительным и объективным чувством должна быть любовь, а не простое удовлетворение потребностей или недостаточное внимание к индивиду.
