истЗемли, расположенные к западу от 95 градуса з.д., в южной части Великих равнин [ Great Plains], на востоке современного штата Оклахома. Закон о переселении индейцев [ Indian Removal Act] 1830 года предусматривал переселение сюда индейских племен с земель к востоку от р. Миссисипи [ Mississippi River]. В первую очередь это касалось Пяти цивилизованных племен [ Five Civilized Tribes], живших на юго-востоке США, которые, пройдя "Тропу слез" [ Trail of Tears], обосновались в восточной части современного штата Оклахома. Территория была торжественно обещана индейцам навечно, но после окончания Гражданской войны [ Civil War] в 1866 в качестве наказания за поддержку Конфедерации [ Confederacy] в западную часть Индейской территории были переселены также и племена с запада США. В 1889 она была открыта для белых переселенцев, а в 1907 статус Индейской территории аннулирован.
