ⓘ A level Examen dans une discipline préparé en deux ans après le GCSE au Royaume-Uni (sauf en Écosse). En général, les élèves choisissent trois ou quatre A levels (par exemple, French, Maths, Chemistry, Biology) et doivent obtenir une note comprise entre A et E pour être reçus à chacun. Les établissements d'enseignement supérieur sélectionnent les futurs étudiants en fonction des matières qu'ils ont réussies et de leurs notes. En Écosse, les Highers ( Higher grades), que les élèves préparent en un an, représentent un niveau équivalent aux A levels.
