Площадь на Манхэттене [ Manhattan] в г. Нью-Йорке, расположена в месте пересечения Шестой авеню [Sixth Avenue] и Бродвея [ Broadway]. Названа по имени газеты "Геральд", в 1894-1921 размещавшейся в здании "Стэнфорд Уайт" [Stanford White Building], от которого сегодня остались лишь знаменитые часы в центре крошечного скверика. В конце XIX века площадь считалась главным "злачным" районом [ Tenderloin District] города, поскольку здесь были сосредоточены бесчисленные увеселительные заведения, бары и танцзалы. Позднее здесь находился один из старейших универсальных магазинов г.
