(s. v.). - Resembles a word for `goat, deer', OIr. heirp (\< * erbhī?; futher Pok. 326). Much farther is Arm. oroǰ `agnus, agna' (\< *er-oǰ, erinǰ `young cow' (unclear) and Italic, Lat. aries, -ĕtis, Umbr. erietu `arietem'.
