Входя в помещение или выходя из него, мы пересекаем лимен (limen) и, находясь в лимене, этом граничной пространстве, мы, хотя бы на полсекунды, оказываемся в лиминальности. — The English "liminality" comes from the Latin limen, meaning 'doorway' or 'threshold'. Entering a room or leaving it, one crosses a limen, and while there, in this borderline space, one is in liminality, if only for a half second.
