Повседневный - everyday, routine, day to day, day-to-dayThis method will continue to find everyday use in small and large firms alike. For routine design this leaves the fourth method, called the beam-strip on an elastic foundation, which is the subject of the present paper. However, it did not suffer the disadvantage of being as brittle as the tungsten carbide bars which are readily fractured in day to day use.Any engineer can easily become adept at using the analysis programs most applicable to day-to-day problems.Русско-английский научно-технический словарь переводчика > повседневный

75 Dickson, J.T.
[br]b. c.1920 Scotland[br]Scottish co-inventor of the polyester fibre, Terylene.[br]The introduction of one type of artificial fibre encouraged chemists to look for more. J.T.Dickson and J.R. Whinfield discovered one such fibre in 1941 when they derived polyester from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. Dickson, a 21-year-old Edinburgh graduate, was working under Whinfield at the Calico Printers' Association research laboratory at Broad Oak Print Works in Accrington. He was put onto fibre research: probably in April, but certainly by 5 July 1941, a murky-looking resin had been synthesized, out of which Dickson successfully drew a filament, which was named "Terylene" by its discoverers. Owing to restrictions imposed in Britain during the Second World War, this fibre was developed initially by the DuPont Company in the USA, where it was marketed under the name "Dacron". When Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) were able to manufacture it in Britain, it acquired the brand name "Terylene" and became very popular. Under the microscope, Terylene appears identical to nylon: longitudinally, it is completely devoid of any structure and the filaments appear as glass rods with a perfectly circular cross-section. The uses of Terylene are similar to those of nylon, but it has two advantages. First, it can be heat-set by exposing the fabric to a temperature about 30°C higher than is likely to be encountered in everyday use, and therefore can be the basis for "easy-care" clothing such as drip-dry shirts. It can be blended with other fibres such as wool, and when pressed at a high temperature the creases are remarkably durable. It is also remarkably resistant to chemicals, which makes it particularly suitable for industrial purposes under conditions where other textile materials would be degraded rapidly. Dickson later worked for ICI.[br]Further ReadingFor accounts of the discovery of Terylene, see: J.R.Whinfield, 1953, Textile Research Journal (May). m.1 RAE, Spanish Academy of Language.2 Rae.pres.indicat.3rd person singular (él/ella/ello) present indicative of spanish verb: raer.imperat.2nd person singular (tú) Imperative of Spanish verb: raer.* * *1 ( Real Academia Española) Spanish royal academy* * *SF ABR Esp= Real Academia Española RAE The Real Academia Española de la Lengua was created in 1713 to protect the purity of the Spanish language. There are 46 members appointed for life from among Spain's most prestigious writers and linguists. It works in collaboration with the 21 other Spanish language academies, which represent all the countries where Spanish is a native language. Its first dictionary, the six-volume Diccionario de Autoridades, was published between 1726 and 1739.* * *femenino = Real Academia Española* * *femenino = Real Academia Española* * *RAE - Real Academia de la Lengua Española (↑ RAE a1)= Real Academia Española* * *Spanish Royal AcademyRAEThe “Real Academia Española” or RAE (Spanish Royal Academy) is the institution which sets the lexical and syntactic standards for the use of Spanish through the dictionaries and grammars it produces. It was founded in 1713, on the model of the French Academy, and its lexicographical work was summarized in a single-volume dictionary which appeared in 1780. This has been continually revised, with the latest full update being the 22nd edition of 2001 (the latest updates can now be consulted on-line). The 46 members of the Academy are elected from among leading writers and intellectuals, though the first woman member did not arrive until 1978. They meet regularly to deliberate on problematic aspects of the language, and to discuss possible linguistic reforms. The Academy has been regarded by some as a conservative institution, out of touch with the everyday language used in the street and the varieties of Spanish spoken in Latin America. To address the latter issue, closer ties have been established with the various corresponding Academies of each of the Latin American countries, and regular international conferences have been held since 1951. More recently, the Academy has started to widen its range of dictionary publications, and an Internet site was opened in 1998, to which users can now send language queries.* * *f abr (= Real Academia Española) Royal Spanish Academy -
