Мера ответственности за несвоевременное выполнение денежных обязательств, разновидность неустойки. Наиболее широко используется при просрочке уплаты налога и неналоговых платежей, а также при задержке оплаты полученных товарно-материальных ценностей, выполненных работ и оказанных услуг. Пеня начисляется обычно в процентах к сумме невыполненного обязательства, за каждый день просрочки.
