(евровалюта) Валюта, размещенная в одной из европейских стран, но не являющаяся национальной валютой этой страны. Например, доллары, депонированные в швейцарском банке, называют евродолларами (Eurodollars), иены, депонированные в Германии, называют евроиенами (еиrо-уеп), и т.д. Евровалюты используются в предоставлении и получении кредитов и займов; евровалютный рынок часто дает возможность получить дешевую и удобную форму ликвидных средств для финансирования международной торговли и зарубежных инвестиций. Основными заемщиками и кредиторами являются коммерческие банки, крупные компании и центральные банки. Привлекая средства в евровалюте, удается добиться более выгодных условий и процентных ставок, а иногда-избежать национального регулирования и налогообложения. В большинстве своем депозиты и ссуды являются краткосрочными, однако результатом роста популярности евровалют стали среднесрочные займы, особенно в форме еврооблигаций (Eurobonds). В известной мере рынок евровалют заменил собой синдицированный рынок ссудных капиталов, на котором банки, стремясь разделить риск кредитных операций, объединялись в группы. Еврорынки (Euromarkets) возникли в 1950-х гг. -
