A ākāl, B akālk `desire' are now supposed to be Iranian loans. - Szemerényi, Gnomon 43, 1971, 659 proposes that it is indeed from ἀ-εχ-; doubtful. If an IE etym. is unknown, the word might be Pre-Gr. (Chantr.
