Декларация представителей 13 штатов, провозгласившая образование независимого государства - США. Принята 4 июля 1776 [ Fourth of July, the]. Основным автором Декларации являлся Т. Джефферсон [ Jefferson, Thomas]. Главная идея Декларации заключена в следующих словах: "Мы исходим из той очевидной истины, что все люди созданы равными и наделены их Творцом определенными неотъемлемыми правами, к числу которых относятся право на жизнь, свободу и стремление к счастью; что для обеспечения этих прав люди создают правительства, черпающие свои законные полномочия в согласии управляемых, и что всякий раз, когда та или иная форма правления становится губительной для этих целей, право народа - изменить или упразднить ее и создать новую систему правления..."
