Распространенный термин (в исследовании операций, системном анализе и др.), которым принято обозначать субъекта управления, чем подчеркивается его отличие от лиц или организаций, готовящих, обосновывающих решение (или варианты, альтернативы решения) - каковы, например, эксперты, члены групп исследования операций, работники «штабов» в линейно-штабной организационной структуре управления. ЛПР — понятие собирательное. Им может быть не только один человек («индивидуальное» ЛПР), но и группа, коллектив, организация («групповое» ЛПР)
