       Le RealPlayer est le logiciel de lecture audio et vidéo de la société RealNetworks. Il permet de décompresser un fichier numérique au format Helix (le format maison) pour pouvoir l’écouter et/ou le regarder. En juillet 2004, dans un souci d’ouverture aux autres formats, la nouvelle version de RealPlayer utilise le système de DRM (digital rights management) Harmony, qui permet de lire les fichiers musicaux dans différents formats (Helix, Windows media player et le format d’iPod) sur tous les baladeurs numériques du marché (Creative, iPod, iRiver, PalmOne, RCA, Rio et Samsung).
