A class of medium to coarse plain weave cotton prints for the South African markets and are mostly blue grounds with white patterns, with a good firm finish. Qualities vary greatly. -
122 Gorevan Rugs
Fine Persian rugs of carpet size, made with cotton warp, the close wool pile is tied with the Ghiordes knot. The design is usually of central medallions in concentric diamond shapes, and the " Turtle " pattern in the border. Colours tare shades of terra-cotta, apricot and blue. -
123 Greek Stripes
Coloured cotton cloths shipped to the Near East, plain weave, about 64 ends and 52 picks per inch, 18's T., 20's W. The designs are mostly dark stripes in which dark-blue predominates. The cloth is very rough, due to the poor quality warp and the heavy size. -

Fine Persian rugs made with cotton foundation and close wool pile tied in the Ghiordes knot. The design is usually a centre medallion with straight outlines and floral patterns in blue and red. The border is in a light colour. These rugs are very similar to Gorevan differing in the design motif for the medallion centre. -
128 Hickory Stripes
An American term for a cotton cloth made from coarse coloured yams, generally blue and white or brown and white, and 2 X 2 twill weave. Used for working shirts and pants in many of the States. Made 28-in. wide. The finish is soft and clothy.
