La WiFi Alliance est une association internationale formée en 1999 pour certifier la compatibilité entre eux de produits destinés à la WiFi (wireless fidelity) dans le cadre de réseaux locaux sans fil. Appelés WLAN (wireless local area networks) ou RLAN (radio local area networks), ces réseaux sont basés sur le standard 802.11 de l’IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). L’association débute la certification des produits WiFi en mars 2000. En 2006, elle regroupe 250 entreprises membres et 2.800 produits ont été certifiés par ses soins.
