Алкалоид, выделяемый из древесины Camptotheca acuminata (семейство Nyssaceae), распространенного на Тибете: мутаген, способен индуцировать фрагментацию хроматина, обладает противоопухолевой активностью; мишень К. в клетке - ковалентный комплекс ДНК-топоизомеразы с ДНК, что подавляет реакцию восстановления фосфодиэфирной связи в ДНК и освобождение фермента из комплекса. Это приводит к быстрому накоплению двухцепочечных разрывов в ДНК и вступлению клеток в апоптоз.
