[англ. ca(lcium) — кальций, от лат. calx (calcis) — известь, лат. adhaerere — приклеиваться, прилипать и - in(e) — суффикс, обозначающий "подобный"]сверхсемейство адгезивных трансмембранных кальций-зависимых гликопротеидов, которое включает классические К., десмосомные К., фотокадгерины и К.-подобные сигнальные рецепторы. Различные члены семейства К. обнаружены в разных тканях: E-К. — в эпителиальных тканях, N-К. — в нейронах и мышцах, P-К. — в плаценте, а также некоторых других тканях. Многие К. взаимодействуют с катенинами (см. катенины) и образуют липкие соединения. Благодаря ассоциации с актиновым цитоскелетом, К. обеспечивают многие процессы тканевого морфогенеза. Они появляются в основном при межклеточной адгезии на начальных стадиях морфо- и органогенеза. К. обеспечивают структурную целостность тканей (особенно эпителиального монослоя).
