Dans un épisode intitulé The Germans, des clients allemands séjournent dans l'hôtel; Basil Fawlty a reçu un coup sur la tête et n'arrête pas de répéter à ses employés whatever you do, don't mention the war ("surtout, ne parlez pas de la guerre") mais lui-même ne cesse de faire référence à la Seconde Guerre mondiale en parlant aux clients allemands. Le sketch est tellement connu qu'aujourd'hui cette phrase est souvent utilisée par les Britanniques de façon humoristique lorsqu'ils parlent des Allemands. -
