банковские праздники
Официальные праздники, отмечаемые в Великобритании, во время которых банки закрыты. Это - Новый год, Пасха, Майский день (первый понедельник мая), Банковский праздник весны (последний понедельник мая), Августовский банковский праздник (последний понедельник августа) и Второй день Рождества.
В Шотландии вместо Пасхи банки отмечают 2 января, а Августовский праздник перенесен на первый понедельник августа.
В Северной Ирландии дополнительно отмечается День Святого Патрика (17 марта).
На Нормандских островах празднуют День освобождения (9 мая).
Банковские праздники не отличаются от воскресных дней в том смысле, что оплата векселей (bills of exchange), срок истечения которых приходится на банковский праздник, откладывается до следующего рабочего дня, а из числа льготных дней (days of grace) они исключаются. Страстная пятница и Рождество также являются официальными выходными днями, однако платежи (в том числе по векселям), срок которых выпадает на эти дни, должны производиться днем раньше. Если банковский праздник приходится на воскресенье, он переносится на следующий день.
