Свойство телевизионной камеры на ПЗС матрице регулировать время накопления сигнала на ПЗС матрице электронными методами. Это достигается за счет увеличения скорости переключения электронного затвора и уменьшения эффективной мощности оптического потока, попадающего на ПЗС матрицу. Это свойство позволяет, например, обеспечить компенсацию изменения уровня освещенности и постоянную среднюю яркость изображения.
Автоматический электронный затвор (Automatic Electronic Shutter Control AESC) реализует функцию "электронная диафрагмы" ("Electronic Iris") - она как бы уменьшает количество света поступающего на матрицу. На самом деле электронная диафрагма плавно, в зависимости от освещенности матрицы, изменяет время накопления заряда, что определяется действием электронного затвора. Таким образом, поддерживается выходной видеосигнал в определенных пределах. Это свойство, также, используется для установки, при необходимости, короткой выдержки, чтобы фиксировать быстродвижущиеся предметы, или для синхронизации процесса накопления с освещением. Для современных телекамер характерны диапазоны регулировки 1/50 - 1/100000сек. Время переключения может устанавливаться переключателем или автоматически.
