Одно из магнитных состояний вещества, отлич. тем, что магнитные моменты атомов или ионов в соседних узлах кристаллич. решетки ориентированы встречно (антипараллельно) и поэтому намагниченность тела в целом очень мала. Этим АФМ отличается от ферромагнетизма, при к-ром одинаковая ориентация магнитных моментов атомов или ионов приводит к высокой намагниченности тела.
