В английском законодательстве contempt — это любые действия, которые либо мешают правосудию, либо демонстрируют неуважение к судебному органу. В качестве contempt можно рассматривать: 1. действия, совершённые во время заседания суда (неприемлемое поведение или отказ отвечать на вопросы, если это относится к свидетелю) 2. действия, совершённые вне судебных слушаний (запугивание свидетелей или отказ выполнять решение суда). Подобные действия наказываются либо штрафом, либо тюремным заключением, или тем и другим одновременно.
