Безжалостное обращение домовладельцев с квартирантами. Слово происходит от фамилии пресловутого польского эмигранта Петра Рахмана (1920—62), который в 1950-х гг. привлёк к себе неодобрительное внимание публики жестокими методами по отношению к нежелательным жильцам его домов в центре Лондона.Despite new laws protecting the tenants of rented property, there is some evidence that Rachmanism has not been totally eradicated. — Несмотря на новые законы, защищающие жильцов на частных квартирах, существуют доказательства, что методы Рахмана не до конца искоренены.
