1 Napping
A finishing process after weaving which raises a nap on the face of the cloth by gigging or scratching. This nap is then brushed and cropped level by the cutting machine. This level fibrous surface is napped by being subjected to the controlled rubbing action of the napping machine, which converts a more or less level pile into tufts of fibres in a dispersed warp direction, weft direction, or diagonally. -
