Месета разделена хребтом Центральная Кордильера (высота до 2592 м) на Старокастильское и Новокастильское плоскогорья (высота 600-1200 м). На западе сильно разбита тектоническими разломами, расчленена долинами рек. По Месете протекают реки Дуэро, Тахо, Гвадиана. Ксерофитные кустарники и степи; на северо-западе широколиственные и хвойные леса. -
