    The full-dress turban of Hindu and Mohammedan gentlemen attached to native courts. It is a portion of an honorary dress presented on certain state occasions to persons of rank by native princes. In the lower Indian provinces it is worn by Hindus only.

Turbans had various names according to use, some of them are as under (see each term): Puttee-Darpugri, Joore Dar Pugri, Nustalik, Khirkee, Dar-Pugri, Chak-veedar, Sethi, Mundeel, Surbund, Surbuttee, Morassa, Umamu, Dustar, Shumla.
