{Древнеанглийское слово "dūn" означает "гора, вершина", а "hearg" – "храм, жертвенник, святилище, идол".} Модернизация роханского названия Dūnhaerg, означающего "языческое святилище на склоне холма (горы)", названное так, поскольку это убежище Рохиррим на входе в Harrowdale было расположено на месте святилища древних обитателей тех мест (ныне – Мертвецов). В английском языке корень "haerg" можно было модернизировать, поскольку он остается составляющей частью некоторых географических названий, например Harrow (on the Hill) {Харроу(-он-те-Хилл) – в настоящее время округ в Великобритании.}. Это слово не имеет отношения к "harrow" ("борона") как инструменту. Это древнеанглийский эквивалент древнеисландского "hörgr" (на современном исландском – "hörgur"), и древневерхненемецкого "harug". Лучше всего перевести это название так, чтобы перевод был приближен к роханскому варианту.
