1 Garrha
One of the coarsest plain weave cotton cloths made in Bengal, used chiefly as clothing for the poorer classes, for packing other cloths, and to cover corpses. The yarns are spun from the native Seronge cotton (see Guzee) and vary from 6's to 12's counts. -
2 Guzee
This name denotes one of the coarsest fabrics made in Bengal. It costs very little and the manufacture has not been affected by the competition of foreigners, as the yam is sold at a much lower price than imported yam. Made from Seronge cotton (see Garrha). Like Garrha, a 10 yard piece costs less than one shilling. -
3 Khadi
A coarse, all-cotton, plain weave cloth of native make on hand looms. The cotton is of the lowest type and the fabric is for local use only (see also Garrha, Khaddar Chotari and Guzee)
