(по имени эпирского царя Пирра, который в 279 г. до н. э. одержал победу над римлянами, однако ценой таких больших потерь, что воскликнул: "Ещё одна такая победа, и мы погибли!") Pyrrhussieg (Pyrrhus, König von Epirus, dem nordwestlichen Teil Griechenlands, hatte im Jahre 279 v. u. Z. einen Sieg über die Römer davongetragen. Die Verluste in seinem Heer waren jedoch so groß, dass er ausrief: "Noch ein solcher Sieg und ich bin verloren!"). Der Ausdruck wird zur Bezeichnung eines zu teuer erkauften Erfolgs gebraucht, der die damit verbundenen Opfer nicht rechtfertigt. -
