Поскольку в то время это было значимое слово, то название следует переводить по смыслу; однако могут возникнуть трудности, поскольку желательно, чтобы перевод был также, по возможности, искажением слова Baránduin. В голландском переводе использовано слово Brandewijn; в шведском переводе этот момент упущен, и использовано слово Vinfluden, хотя можно было перевести как Brännavin. Brendevin (датский) или Branntwein (немецкий) тоже подходят.
