בִּיתֵּרpr. n. pl. (prob. a contr. of בית תרעא) Bithter (Βιθθηρά), known as Bettar, a town in Southern Palestine, renowned as the centre of the Bar-Kokhba revolution against Hadrian. Nap. בייתר, Ven. ביתיר) mentioned as a place not belonging to Palestine proper. Cant. R. to II, 17 בית תר.
