This is a Scotch cheviot fabric, made with alternate threads of marl twist, both warp and weft, and is a good wearing suiting cloth. Made in plain or 2 X 2 twill weaves. This term was originally applied to the tweeds made at the Bannockburn mills, but is now commonly used for this cloth made at any Scottish mill. Fancy weaves, as well as silk stripes, are frequently employed in many of these tweeds. -
