1 Arabian
A rather coarse net fabric which is edged with macrame lace and used for curtains (sec Arabe Point d') -
2 Arabian Crepe
A cotton fabric woven plain from hard-twisted yarns such as 24's warp, 28's weft (crepe yarns) 44 X 32 per inch. A figured effect is woven by the use of a coarse soft spun extra weft which floats from figure to figure, and the floats are afterwards cut away, thus giving a compact figure on a plain ground. Various qualities are made in silk and worsted yarns. -
3 Arabian Embroidery

4 Arabian Hemp
A variety of hemp cultivated in Arabia and India, chiefly for its resinous principle and from which hasheesh is obtained for smoking or chewing; also known as Takrousi hemp. -
5 Arabian Lace
A narrow curtain lace for edging, etc. The ground work is usually of ecru colour with cords of darker shade. Owing to cheap imitations the real variety is not being made in quantity. -

All-cotton plain weave cloths for sale in Arabia and districts adjoining. From 26-in. to 32-in. widths, coarse yams, and reed and pick from 48 square per inch, such as 48 X 48 X 13's/15's. The stripes are bars of brown and grey, or brown and white, in several widths. -

8 Algerian Stripes
A French coating fabric, used principally for Arabian cloaks. It is made with alternate stripes of coarse, rough cotton yarn and fine silk yarn, in plain and twill weaves. Sometimes gold threads are used for ornament. The colour is cream, but scarlet is sometimes done. Width 52-in. -
9 Dimakso Silk
Arabian term for raw silk. -
10 Shash
The Arabian term for a fine cotton muslin. The term is also used in East Africa. In the Bible it means cotton. A cotton shirting made at Damascus and used for shawls as well as shirts. The word is Hebrew for " Byssus " and meant fine linen. -
11 Takrousi Hemp
Same as Arabian hemp. -
12 Tiraz
Very rich Arabian silk fabric with names of sultans and other prominent people interwoven. Used as material to write on (in mediaeval Europe) when it was solid coloured.
