ἀκοστέω, Hom. zweimal, Iliad. 6, 506. 15, 263 στατὸς ἵππος, ἀκοστήσας ἐπὶ φάτνῃ; wahrscheinl. verwandt mit ἀκοστή, Gerste, ἀκοστήσας ἵππος, ein Pferd, das sich in Gerste vollfraß u. daher übermüthig ist, wie im Deutschen »das Pferd sticht der Hafer«; vgl. κριϑιᾶν; Buttmann Lexil. 2, 171; Aristonic. Scholl. Iliad. 6, 506 ἡ διπλῆ πρὸς τὸ ἀκοστήσας, ὅτι ἄλλοι ἄλλως ἀπέδωκαν· ἔστι δὲ ἤτοι ἐν ἄχει γενόμενος διὰ τὴν στάσιν, ἢ ἄκος τι καὶ βοήϑημα τῆς στάσεως ζητῶν.
