נָטוּשm. (נָטַש) a fugitive whose estate is abandoned. Y.Keth.IV, 29a bot. נ׳ זה שיצא לדעת a naṭush is he who left of his own accord (not carried away by force); Y.Yeb.XV, 15a top.Pl. נְטוּשִׁים, נְטוּשִׁין. Ib.; Tosef.Keth.VIII, 3 אלו הן נכסי נ׳וכ׳ this is (in a legal sense) the abandoned estate of nṭushin: if the heir took possession without a report of the absentees death having arrived, contrad. to רטושים; B. Mets.38b. Ib. שמעתי שהנ׳ כשבויין I heard a tradition that the estate of fugitives is of the same legal category as that of captured persons. Ib., sq. מאי שנא הנך … נ׳וכ׳ why are these called nṭushim, and the others rṭushim? נ׳ דבע״כ n. are those who emigrate against their will (fugitives from justice). -
