רַבָּנוּתf. (v. רַבָּן) leadership, authority, office; superiority. Ab. I, 10 אהוב … ושנא את הר׳ love a trade, and hate office. Pes.87b אוי לה לר׳וכ׳ woe to the (royal) authority, for it buries its holders, as there is not one prophet that did not outlive four kings. Num.
