צָבI m. (b. h.; צבב swell, be soft, cmp. צָבָה) a species of lizard. Sifra Shmini, ch. VI, Par. 5 (ref. to Lev. 11:29) (read:) הצב זה הצב למינהו לרבות מינים של צב tsab means the species of lizard, ‘after its kind is to include the sub-species of lizard; Ḥull.127a, v. חֲבַרְבָּר. Ib. נחש שהוא כרוך על הצב a serpent wound around (coupling with) a tsab. Ex. R. s. 15, end; a. e.Num. R. s. 12 (ref. to צב, Num. 7:3) אין צב אלא מצויירות צב tsab means here (wagons) painted in the colors of the lizard; Cant. R. to VI, 4 צוויינות, Yalk. Num. 713 צב מצויינות (corr. acc., and add צב).

R. to VIII, 8 (ref. to Zech. 12:1 ויצר) צָר רוח של אדם בגופו he tied up the spirit of man in his body, v. צָרַר; a. e. 2) to form, shape. Sabb.75b הצָר צורה בכלי he who draws a figure on a vessel. Ib. 103b עד שיָצוּר כולו until he has drawn the entire figure which he intended to draw. Gen.
