פרנסתו

סְקִימְיוֹן m. (a corrupt. of xenium) a hosts or kings gift, donation indefinite as to time and amount. Taan.19b מיום שחרב … נעשו הגשמים ס׳וכ׳ Ar. (ed. צימוקין; Ms. M. צומוקין, Rashi ed. Pes. צומוקיון, substitutes for the unintelligible ס׳) since the destruction of the Temple the rains have become irregular and arbitrary gifts, in some years rains are abundant, in others, scanty; in some years rains are in season (Compare the simile: לעבד שנתן לו רבו פרנסתו.

פְּרָסm. (פָּרַס) 1) part, half, v. פְּרוּס. 2) a piece, esp. a certain quantity of bread. Neg. XIII, 9 כדי אכילת פ׳ פת חטיןוכ׳ as much time as is required for eating a piece, that is, a piece of wheat bread Ib. 10. Tosef. ib. VII, 10 וכמה הוא פ׳ חציוכ׳ and how much is a pras?
