עֵרֶבm. (b. h.; עָרַב I) 1) woof, opp. שתי warp. Kel. I, 5 חוט ע׳ a thread of the woof (thicker than that of the warp). Nidd.25b כשל ע׳ as thick as a thread of the woof; a. fr.Trnsf. the latitudinal direction, opp. to שתי longitudinal direction. Sabb.85b אם היו זרועין שתי זורען ע׳ if the beds (in a square) were planted lengthwise, he must plant (on the interspaces) crosswise. Ḥull.109b קורעו שתי וע׳ he tears it (the udder) lengthwise and crosswise.
