    מַסְמֵסch. sam(מסמס Ito melt, dissolve), 1) to melt, make faint. Targ. Y. Deut. 1:28 מַסְמִיסוּ (not מסמיסן; h. text הֵמַסּוּ).Y.Shek.V, 48d היי דין חמר מְמַסְמֵס מעיא Bab. ed. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. p. 43; oth. ed. סמס; Ms. M. סמי) which wine loosens the bowels. 2) to soil, make loathsome.
