קִנְטֵר, קִנְתֵּר(cmp. קָנַט) ( to sting, to chide. Pes.66a התחיל מְקַנְטְרָן בדברים he began to chide them with words; Y. ib. VI, 33a מקנתרן. Gen. R. s. 98. Cant. R. to IV, 7 מפני שקִינְטְרָן ולפיוכ׳ because he rebuked them, and as they took their fathers rebuke (in silence), they were allowed to be recorded side by side with Aaron ; Num. R. s. 13 שקִינְתְּרָן.
