קָנַט(sec. r. of קוּט or קָטַט) (to cut; to shrink), v. קָנִיט. Hif. הִקְנִיט 1) ( to cut, to vex, annoy, make angry. Midr. Till. to Ps. 3 בוכה אני שהִקְנַטְתִּי את אבא (ed. Bub. שהכעסתי) I weep because I provoked my father. Pesik. Shubah, p. 165a> לא … לא הִקְנַטְנוּ אותו have we not provoked him to anger? have we not annoyed him? Ḥull.122b; 55b, a. e. אל תַּקְנִיטֵנִי שבלשון יחידוכ׳ do not weary me (with thy arguments), for I am teaching this as an individual opinion (not as an adopted rule); a. fr. 2) to shrink, fail.
